For Signing Time Series 2 we had a set designer come in and build a tree house based on the graphic design illustrations from previous shows. Alex and Leah had no idea until a week or so before we filmed. They were excited to see the “tree house” but they were a little disappointed that it wasn’t actually built in a tree. They were excited to explore and discover the fun things throughout the set.
It was a new experience for them since in the past they have always been on a bright green set, with not much more than each other and their imaginations to work with.
You might want to take a good look at our MP3 player on the Signing Time! web-site hmmm, is that a new song? And enter the Signing Time Series 2 Contest for your chance to win Series 2 Volumes 1, 2 & 3 on DVD! There are even more hints about the new shows posted on the Signing Time Forums. I highly recommend that you keep a close eye on your inbox! In the meantime, you can watch this:
I have almost graduated from physical therapy. Note to anyone who breaks a bone and has PT – go to PT in the afternoon after you are warmed up. All of your rotation measurements are better then. When I go to PT first thing in the morning it always looks like I am having a major setback.
So here is the proof: Look at the two thin bones and notice how the top of the one on the left has piece that is chipped out of it and slightly lower? Well that is the break. (For some reason the picture is reversed on youtube)
I know it’s nothing shocking but it really has been painful and a nuisance to say the least. Aaron has been working on the special features for our upcoming DVD’s and I asked him to edit together a little elbow fun for you!
While we were filming our upcoming Signing Time shows my elbow would pop while I was signing. The popping doesn’t always ruin the take, the editors can cut out the audio during the pop IF I am not speaking at the exact moment it happens. We started calling those useable takes with pops, Clean Pops. So, they can use the take if the pop is clean AND if I don’t react to the pop – just keep smiling!
I am SO excited! I mean SO very excited! That doesn’t quite sum it up though – not even close. Over the past year I have dropped hints.
(HINT: When I was stuck in New York in February I mentioned that I took the time to write some songs.)
Within a few months I was demo-ing songs. (HINT: I mentioned I had been in the recording studio.)
Then outlining scripts with Emilie. (HINT: “Emilie can’t make it to the weekly chat. Trust me she is busy working on other things. Things you want her to work on!”)
Soon we were reviewing scripts, narrowing down the signs, recording songs and filming. (HINT: We had an open audition. How much more of a hint do you need?)
Then I broke my arm -which gave us some surprisingly funny out takes. I took some time to heal and WRAPPED our new shows!!! I have been trying so hard not to say anything. I am notorious for spilling the beans! But give me a break!!! It’s ALL I have been doing for months and months and I can’t talk about it? Not on the Signing Time Weekly Wednesday Chats? Not on the Signing Time Forums? Though I have just burst into a new song here and there at a few of the recent Signing Time Live performances.
Signing Time families keep asking me for certain signs and I am just dying to say, “Just wait a few more months we already filmed an entire show about that theme!!!”
So here I am saying it: We have been working our tails off!!! I have been writing new songs! We have been filming new shows! You will be getting new DVD’s very soon!
Don’t start asking “How soon?” I can’t answer that question and they do not have an answer for you in the office at Two Little Hands either. But I can tell you I watched the first 3 shows today and I love them! You are getting the signs you have been asking for.
Be sure to sign up for the Signing Time Newsletter so that the big announcement comes directly to you. You can sign up by email on the upper left hand side of the Signing Time home page. Sign up now!!
Watch my blog for even MORE fun facts… but DON’T tell Emilie!
And my last teaser for today: Here are some shots of Alex and Leah and yes these shots are from the next 3 shows.
I think we can all fill in the blank. “SOMEDAY I am going to ___________!”
Isn’t it funny how we live a “someday” life? I guess it’s not actually funny at all, it’s sort of sad. Last month Aaron came home one day and said,”For 10 years I have been saying ‘someday we are going to have a pop-up camper – someday.’ and for the past 10 years we haven’t been any closer to getting it. SOMEDAY doesn’t even exist! I am going to go get one right now!” I started laughing and I told him to go for it. By the end of the week we owned a sweet pop-up camper. There is no SOMEDAY there is only TODAY.
Last week we took our camper out and camped at Flaming Gorge. Lucy commented,”This is the first time I have camped in my whole life!” She was right and she is 7 years old! We ate smores every night. We played backgammon and Old Maid. Leah rode her bike around the campsites and Lucy drove her wheelchair. Aaron, Leah and I jumped into the lake off of a 35-foot cliff. We borrowed a friend’s wave runner and accidentally tipped it over with all four of us on it!!! (We are still laughing about it!)
I dare you to do something TODAY that you have been saying you will do SOMEDAY. I’d love to hear what it is!
