Silly Things We Do
I like to bake cakes. But I usually bake them when I am not really into eating cake. Is that strange? Probably. I baked a cake 2 weeks ago, it was a Pecan Pie Cake, recipe from a Southern Living Magazine of course! ![]()

Aaron keeps asking, “Why are you baking a cake? I always have to eat the whole thing!!”
I do have a piece but that’s all. I just want a taste, but you can’t really bake a taste of cake.
This week I baked a Lemon Cream Cheese Cake (not cheesecake). I haven’t had my taste yet. Can you tell I like just a taste of coconut too? Baking cakes and not eating them.. just one of the silly things I do!

You may call it silly, but I say it’s a strength. If I were into baking cakes as a hobby, I would be enormous, because I can barely _see_ a cake without wanting at least one big piece (the two you posted pics of are making my mouth water…). I’d say that baking cakes and only having a taste is way better than baking cakes and eating the whole thing.

Wow, baking cakes–because you have nothing better to do these days, right?! LOL-I thought it was bad enough having brownies in my house. Nice job!

Wouldn’t it be lovely to just have a little bit of cake and not the calories!! The cakes look so scrumptious…wish there was smell-a-internet….

Wow, what beautiful cakes. I am the same way: I like to bake it, but I’m not a “sweet-eater”. What self-control if you DO, indeed, like sweets.
With that said, can I get the recipe for the Lemon Cream Cheese Cake?
Thank you for sharing these tasty photos! (It’s funny to see you outside of the orange sweater.)

I woke up this morning and the lemon cake was gone! I didn’t get my taste.
Well, I did have a little taste of the lemon filling and the frosting when I was constructing it. That’s what I get for having so much self-control LOL
You can find the recipe by visiting www.southernliving.com and clicking on their recipe tab then search: Coconut Lemon Cake. I add fresh lemon juice to the cream cheese frosting, because I love lemon so much!

I would have no problem NOT eating either of those cakes. I’m not a coconut person! The lemon cake does sound yummy though! Hopefully if I ever bake it, I’ll have better luck with it then I did with those lemon bars last year!
