It’s My Party… I’ll Have a Sale if I Want To

Today is a special day, a special day it’s true! October 9th, is my birthday!

I giggled when I opened my email and received a “Happy Birthday” message from Signing Time, because when I opened that email, I got to see me… singing, and signing to… me. Trust me, it’s a little surreal sometimes.

This year I am 35 whopping years old. Can I get a “whoop whoop!”
I just got back from Washington D.C. and honestly have been traveling so much that I forgot it was my birthday. Leah was in D.C. with me and asked, “Mom, are you excited for the day after tomorrow?” I had no idea what she meant, “Am I excited for Friday? Sure! Who doesn’t love the weekend?”

As far as I know, I currently have no birthday plans, other than unpacking my bags and doing some laundry (hint, hint Aaron) So, I am having a sale! (It’s easier than having a party… very little clean up with a sale) And you my friend, you are invited!

The details came out in the Signing Time Newsletter. (Join it if you haven’t already)

I can’t remember a time we’ve had a sale this big, but then again I have never been this old… so who knows!

The coupon code is in the message below. Feel free to share the video with others, so they can celebrate too. And remember, when October 9th is over… so is the sale!

Visit the Signing Time Store to use the coupon.

La-di-da-di Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday All Day Long!

  1. Ah…35! Still a young thing! πŸ˜‰ HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! (at least relax on your birthday…hopefully ‘someone’ will take care of the laundry for you…LOL)

  2. Happy Birthday Rachel,
    Dear Rachel,

You definitely deserve a WHOOP, WHOOP, WHOOP!!! At 35 you’ve had some major achievements and give those of us who are still striving lots of hope. Your blogs of your travels give those of us who don’t get out much a passport to the world outside our 4 walls. I actually received your email on my birthday the 8th so thank you for the present. I can buy Nicolas the zoo or birthday video for the big “3” next month. We met you in Fontana, CA. Nicolas was very shy, but loved your performance. Although he couldn’t figure out how you got outside the screen. We bought the colors, farm and neighborhood video at Aaron’s suggestion(perfect choices, Thanks!). I really wanted the zoo video. but someone beat me to the punch. That’s ok though because it was worth it to get a little extra time to speak with you. Nicolas already knows all his colors, animals and people in the neighborhood in such a short time. Your video’s are absolutely amazing, I recommend them to everyone I encounter whether or not their child has a disability. His speech therapist, psychologist, home teachers and anyone else we encounter can’t believe how well he signs especially how fast he picked up and regularly uses the new signs since we saw you in September. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You look awesome in all your pictures! Your energy is amazing! Keep up the fabulous work you do and Happy, Happy Happy Birthday to you! Sorry so long.

  3. Hi Rachel,

Happy 35th birthday! You’re very young! Thank you for signing time. i think I have most of your DVDs. Bought them for my grandchildren. They love it. What a fun way to learn to communicate.

God bless you and hope you have many, many more happy birthdays. Hope to meet you personally one of these days. Thank you for inviting me to your party.

  4. rachel, thanks for the birthday present!! you rock!! Happy happy birthday!! Going shopping right now…but first…i posted a reply a few weeks ago to your post, way better than surgery. My husband was the one going in for brain surgery. we are two weeks post op and the surgery was a success…no more seizures!! Whoo hoo!! Here is my 6 degrees of Signing Time moment. After the surgery, my husband was having trouble getting his thoughts into words, and really couldn’t speak, but, as I was leaving his hospital room, feeling very overwhelmed, he started to sign to me, “see you later” and it opened up a little window of conversation for us. what a huge moment for us!! thank you!! Have a wonderful birthday!!

  5. Wishing you a fantastic Friday! Erm, I mean birthday! πŸ˜‰ At 35, you’re still a spring chicken (and I meant hat in the best possible way)! Hope your day is as special and wonderful as you make everyone else feel, too.

  6. Today is my darling baby’s birthday too! (He’s 2 today!) When he gets older he’ll love that “My, My Rachel” has the same birthday as him! What choice do I have but to celebrate your birthdays with some new DVDs?!?! Happy Birthday!

  7. Happy Birthday Rachel! Glad you could join those of us that are already 35 πŸ™‚ I hope that Aaron gets the hint lol!
Have an amazing day, week, month, year you totally deserrve it!

  8. Rachel What a great way to celebrate your birthday with everyone! Love the video! And how creative are you πŸ˜‰ to put a coupon code in there. Like you told me before.. always buy on sale and use coupon codes. hehe

  9. Happy Birthday!! I can’t believe it’s today, I know like 4 other people that their birthday is today, and 2 of them are my favorite people ever. I guess it’s just a popular day.

  10. HAPPY Birthday. You don’t look a day older than 29. πŸ™‚ Thanks for this wonderful gift. Unfortunately though the code didn’t work. Is there a computer glitch or something? Let us know. Thanks.

  11. Happy Birthday, Rachel!

My 20-month old daughter Samantha and I are so thankful for you and are glad for your heart to help all kids learn to sign. Samantha loves her Baby Signing Time videos, and we’ve even started in on some Signing Time when we can get them from the library. They’ve helped a ton with our communication, and my daughter takes such delight in learning and using new signs.

I’m enjoying learning a new language along with my daughter, and I hope this is just the start of how we can use signing to make a difference in our lives and in the lives of people we meet.

Thank you so much. Hope that your birthday is one of feeling very loved by your family and friends, and even people like me, my husband and Sam — your fans. πŸ™‚

  12. Happy Birthday Rachel! My girls love your signing time videos. Thank you for the work you have done to bring so much excitement into our home. Keep up the good work that God has blessed you to do.

Greg, Jennifer, Giana, & Ariana Evans.

  13. Happy birthday, my daughter, Heidi, will watch an episode tonight in your honor.

    Blessings on your day,

  14. Happy Birthday Rachel! I am from Canada and Baby Signing Time was given to us as a gift from my sister in law from LA a year ago. I just wanted to let you know how much our daughter LOVES Baby Signing time! She is 13 months old and she signs nearly all the signs from the 4 Baby signing time dvd’s, most of them she taught herself from watching you. It amazes me how fast she realized she can communicate with us through signing! She will point to the tv and sign ‘Baby time’ when she wants to watch it. I tell all my friends with babies about the dvd’s and everyone is very impressed with her signing. Thankyou for a wonderful teaching tool!

  15. Yay! Happy birthday! What a great birthday present (to us). Thanks… I just bought Christmas presents. πŸ™‚ What an easy and wonderful Christmas idea: board book and DVD for all the baby cousins. Our boys have been (and are being) raised with Signing Times and we love it. You are such a blessing. Hope you have a super day!

  16. Happy, Happy Birthday Rachel! We’ll sing “Happy Birthday To You” (your version) in your honor and hope that knowing how much you enjoy cake (well, baking them anyway), that a very special one will arrive on your table today! Enjoy 35–it’s a fantabulous year!

  17. To All of You Who Commented… and those who didn’t but have stuck around and read this far:

Since it’s my birthday, I am going to be lazy and do one big blanket response;)

Thank you for all of the wonderful birthday wishes! Today has been exciting LOL. I went to the gym… and that’s about it, so far. Oh, Lucy got suspended from school… so I might just need a birthday do-over.

I am off to get a massage (Thanks Mom!) and then have dinner with Aaron. My kind of day… except for the suspended from school part.

  18. Congratulations Rachel! You made it. : ) My 30’s have been amazing, and what I have seen of yours, it seems to have been spectacular. So sorry we missed seeing you in Oregon, the kids loved you so when we saw you in Salem last year. The world is celebrating yet another year of you, well at least I know we are.

Thanks to your parents btw. : ) They did a good job.

  19. Feliz CumpleaΓ±os, that’s how they say it in Spain….Thanks for the wonderful sale! Can you say “Christmas Shopping”? Yup, that’s what I’m going to do!!!

  20. Happy Birthday, Rachel! Sometimes, my son wakes up telling us “I want Rachel”…if you can believe it, he’d rather watch you than Mickey Mouse! You are part of the family! I’m going to the website right now to get a few DVDs (including a couple replacements for the ones Lucas has managed to scratch up by pulling them out of the DVD player and bringing them to me so I can play Rachel!). It’s very generous of you to offer the sale…thanks!

Hope you have a great day!!!
    Sandy & Lucas

  21. Well a very blessed new year of life to you! 35, yeah that was last year. In 8 days I’ll be 36, and I don’t feel a day over 27. :o) The difference is you don’t LOOK a day over 25!!!!

Ooh…just thought of a post (and I needed an idea!) so we’ll share your birthday goodness with a few more out there.

  22. A belated Happy Birthday to you. We have been enjoying our latest DVD addition, Favorite Things. We are looking forward to your performance at tomorrow’s Buddy Walk at Bull Run Park. I know it will be rainy and cold, but we’ll be the warm faces in the crowd basking in your orange glow.

  23. Wow! I kind of figured I was about the same age as you, but somehow, I just turned 37. Luckily, I too look young for my age. I’m sorry I missed your Birthday Sale. I have Baby Signing Times for my 15 month old girl. She hears well, but she is picking some basic signs. It’s funny that she will start giving the sign for “All Done” when we are just starting to eat, but as soon as I show here “More” she imitates immedietely.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday with Leah and Lucy. They are such great role models for children all over, and all they have to do is be themselves. I didn’t know you were going to be in DC. I live near Harrisburg and would love to meet you sometime. Do you have a list of any of your appearances?

    Happy Happy Happy Birthday!!

  24. Thanks for the great sale! You should be proud of yourself for all you have accomplished in 35 short years. We love you!
Also…Rachel! I just saw the COOLEST Halloween costume for Lucy. It’s a cinderella IN her royal coach…the wheelchair is the coach! Definitely check it out. I thought of Lucy immediately when I saw it.
    Happy Halloween!

  25. Hey that’s MY birthday!! Lol I wish I had found this then but I just started looking for videos because the new little boy in my nursery in church is deaf and I have always loved sign πŸ™‚ I figured it would be a good idea if the rest of “my” kids learned with him. Love your video, already downloaded the iPhone app!

  26. Happy Birthday, Rachel! It is a birthday same as my mother, and age same as you.?I live in Japan. I always watch Signing Time with my children. My children love Signing Time. I’m poor at English, I’m sorry.
