The countdown is on! We leave for Ghana on January 13, 2012.. yes, that IS Friday the 13th, so… that’s just… great.
First of all a HUGE thank you to those of you who have donated to The Signing Time Foundation (501c3)! I know you didn’t know it, but if you donated $50 or more, you will be getting a handwritten “Thank You” “receipt” from me, with a photo of us in Ghana. (Obviously that will be coming to you after the trip) and that offer still stands, just click the donate button… Warning: It feels good!
Secondly… we have yet another way for you to contribute!!! Check out our limited edition, Signing Time Foundation Ghana 2012 pewter pins! We are making a limited number of these (because that’s what “limited edition” means) so when they are gone… they are GONE! The best part is that this is a very affordable way to make a difference, each pin is $10 and that includes shipping to your U.S. address – and that means that just about $5 of each purchase goes straight to the Ghana 2012 trip. YeeHaw!
There are two designs to choose from, Hopkins the Frog and THE Rachel “ILY”. Plus we’re using Paypal to make it really easy to order. Your order will ship in 4-6 weeks. To buy single pins visit www.signingtimefoundation.org (but really… why buy 1 when you can buy 2?)
Warning: Buying things for a good cause makes you a good person… be prepared! (results not guaranteed)
(Ok grownups, these are clearly not meant for young children, so… use your good judgement and good sense about things with small removable parts and sharp points <--- that was my Public Service Announcement and was probably better than saying things like: "don't be a ding-dong") And as always you can Chip-in for Africa below, and yes, I know the chip-in doesn't count the "donate" or "buy now" buttons, but we are also aiming to raise $20,000 not just $5,000. If the chip-in widget doesn't show up, just hit refresh, and it should! Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving~ and that you enjoyed Black Friday and Cyber Monday! MWAH ~Rachel
Good luck! Have fun!
Awesome!!! Please try to connect with Down Syndrome (DS) International (www.ds-int.org) and Down Syndrome South Africa (www.downsyndrome.org.za), your trip and PINS are particularly unique & timely in light of the DS convention in Cape Town in August, 2012.
My son with DS relies on signs to help communicate what he wants as he develops his speech clarity. ALL of my three children were able to minimize frustration at early ages using sign language despite the fact they are highly verbal and spoke “early” with or without signing.
Your wonderful, musical and fun-upbeat programs and videos that highlight people as I’m sure you know are particularly useful for children with DS and other conditions – my son loves music and kids/PEOPLE/faces.
Please travel safe and continue your phenomenonal journey. I am sure we wi cross paths in person soon, I have lots of ideas for our common shared mission (signing to help increase communication globally!).
hello my name is anice and my two little brothers love signing time they know all the song they wacht it before sleeping .
Is there a way to buy these pins without using PayPal? ‘Cause after the recent fiasco with them, I’m refusing to use it.
(However, if there is no other way, the awesomeness of those pins might break me down.)
Because these are only available for a limited time Paypal is the only option:)
Signing time has made such a huge difference in my life and my 3 year old’s life. Nathan loves signing time and picks up the signs so quickly . We do not know why he is delayed in his development. But, another awesome connection we now have to signing time is that my parents have spent the last 8 years in Ghana. I spent 8 years of my life in CAR, (Central African Republic). Africa is a beautiful, awesome place sure to change your life. Oh that I was going!!!
Are the pins $10 or $20?
Okay, I clicked on the Paypal thingie and I see that they are $20 for one of each. What if you only want one pin?
Visit www.signingtimefoundation.org and you can purchase the pins separately there.
I have a Kinderpack Preschool/Petite carrier. I don’t know if the petite straps will work for you, but I would like to send it to you as a gift from our family to yours. Please email me. Happy New Year Coleman family! May the new year bring additional blessings upon your family.
